DTE Energy Principal Analyst - DO Scheduling & Coordination in Detroit, Michigan
Job Summary: Experienced business operations analyst who examines and measures the effectiveness of existing business processes, including complex financial or budget data, and recommends sustainable, repeatable, and quantifiable business process improvements intended to enhance the business unit's operational effectiveness. Data subject to analysis may include operational effectiveness, capacity utilization, industry benchmarks, etc. applicable to the Distribution Operations area. No supervisory or managerial responsibilities; assignments are received in the form of broad objectives; incumbent has latitude for independent action in setting related objectives proceeding accordingly.
Accountabilities: - Collects and prepares data and operations analyses that may include competitive data, operational effectiveness and capacity utilization to develop and initiate recommendations for business practice improvements, focusing on enhanced safety, increased productivity, reduced cost, and/or related issues within the assigned business unit. - Provides statistical information to ensure the most effective utilization of personnel, equipment, and materials for electric operations. - Analyses the business unit's cost elements to ensure effective operations. - May track, maintain, and provide current information on the business unit's scorecard. - Researches best business practices in-and outside the business unit to establish benchmark practices and data. - Facilitates / leads meetings and group discussions relevant to the business unit's operational effectiveness. - Applies project planning and implementation and/or continuous improvement practices to affect tangible, positive business unit outcomes; creates project work plans and monitors related budgets. - Bachelor's degree in a business, technical discipline or similarly related, and a broad understanding of the following functions within Distribution Operations that typically requires 5-plus years of experience: field construction; project management; contract administration; budget and resource planning. - Consulting and influencing skills consistent with the ability to build relationships and influence parties; may include getting parties to embrace changing expectations and initiatives. - Written and verbal communication and advocacy skills consistent with the ability to present results of projects and research to senior-level management, and engage in persuasive written and verbal interaction. - Analytical and problem-solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key issues from a broad range of alternatives, and recommend optimal solutions for various situations. - Ability to conduct effective meetings and manage the meeting process with optimal results. - Initiates new ideas and approaches; challenges orthodox practices and approaches with reasonably sound alternatives. - Ability to analyze complex financial data and develop optimal recommendations and solutions. - Deals effectively with resistance; takes positive steps to avoid the recurrence of errors through constructive critique.
